Virtual Console is a section of the Wii Shop Channel, that allows you to purchase and download games and other software for your Nintendo Wii. The Virtual Console lineup consists of titles originally released on past consoles. These titles are run in their original forms through software emulation, and can be purchased for between 500 and 1200 Wii Points.
Released by Epyx for the Commodore 64 and now available on the Nintendo Wii's Virtual Console, California Games is a collection of six sports mini-games that players compete in for a high score. Players can choose from half-pipe, freestyle foot bag, surfing, frisbee, roller skating and BMX racing. Think of it like a precursor to Wii Sports and Wii Sports Resort. Extremely popular for its time, California Games was eventually ported to multiple platforms including the Atari ST, Sega Master System, Apple II, Amiga and the original Nintendo Entertainment System. It's popularity on the NES also made it the focus of an episode of everyone's favorite Saturday morning cartoon, Captain N: The Game Master. |
